CM Tip #1 - Private seller defined
By: Bill (registered) Tuesday, December 11th, 2007
What is a private seller and how does it differ from non private sellers?
The private seller designation is for users that have up to 3 active items up for sale. This does not include WTB, SOLD, HOLD or PRIVATE.
As soon as you list four items for sale you loose the "Private Seller" tag. If one of your items are sold then you go back to being a private seller as the system is dynamic.
If you find that you have posted a duplicate and you have been reclassified, simply set the the duplicate to "PRIV" private and it will no longer be in the count.
If you want to withdraw an item listed?
You can change the status to "WD" withdrawn from sale. This will not be counted as an active item and your status.
Why create this designation?
We felt that 3 active For Sale ads for a basic collector was about the right number of items that meant that the user was a private seller. Users that have more than 3 active items for sale does not necessarily mean they are professional but it was a threshold that felt fair to promote private sellers looking for new homes.
The ultimate goal is for the community to match buyers and sellers in the most efficient way.
