Your photo is a perfect example of how to use the timing function.  It's simpler and even more intuitive than a chronograph.

By the way, the dial is a true chameleon, albeit a beautiful chameleon.

Full agreement. Much for useful in daily life than a conventional chronograph.

I never have a need to time anything to an exact second. But, setting 10 minutes for eggs, or the overtime of the Boston Bruins starts in 18 minutes... yah, this is what this watch is made for!
